Missing My Dad

9 days from now, it'll be a year since I lost my Dad to a rare degenerative brain disease.
Within 2½ months, he went from normal cognitive functions, into a deep state of dementia and finally death.

It tore our world apart, and still does...

This water colour piece is based on a photograph, taken on the first day, I realized my dad (as I knew him) was gone. 
1½ months earlier we sat in the garden at my brothers wedding, drinking a beer while catching up on everything. 
We hugged, we kissed and at the end of the day I said my goodbyes.

The next time I saw him... this shell was all that was left
